Numbers to Excel: open Apple spreadsheets anywhere

Apple Numbers spreadsheets are a problem as soon as colleagues, customers or your accountant use Windows. This tool converts Numbers to Excel: upload a .numbers file and download an .xlsx workbook that opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets. You can convert up to five files at once without installing anything. It takes only a few seconds to convert Numbers to Excel this way.

When you convert Numbers to Excel, the tables, text, numbers and the basic formatting are carried over to the Excel workbook. Complex formulas, charts and Apple-specific features may be simplified, so please check the result before you send it on. For the most exact copy, Numbers itself can export to Excel on your Mac; use this page when you only have the file, for example on a Windows PC.

Our tool reads the Numbers file with LibreOffice, which runs on our own servers in Germany. Your file is held in memory only, never written to disk and deleted after the download, at the latest after an hour. You can convert Numbers to Excel within the free daily allowance without an account. If you only need a PDF for viewing or printing, our Excel to PDF tool also accepts Numbers files.

Questions and answers

How good is the result?

Tables, text, numbers and basic formatting are carried over. Complex formulas, charts, pivot-like summaries and Apple-specific features may be simplified or lost, so please check the result. On a Mac, Numbers can also export to Excel itself (File > Export To > Excel); that is usually the most exact way.

Does it work with old and new Numbers files?

The conversion reads Numbers files through LibreOffice. Newer files, especially with many charts or images, may convert less completely than older ones. If a file cannot be read, you get a clear message.

What about Pages and Keynote?

Pages and Keynote files can already be turned into PDF with our Word and PowerPoint tools. Conversion to Word and PowerPoint formats is not offered yet.

How do I open a Numbers file from a Mac in Excel?

Upload the .numbers file; you get an XLSX file. Formulas and formatting are carried over as well as possible, check important spreadsheets after the conversion.
