Unlock a PDF and remove its protection
A PDF that asks for a password every time or does not allow printing and copying can be annoying when you are the rightful owner. With this tool you can unlock PDF files if you know the password: enter it and download a copy without the password protection. This is the simple way to unlock PDF documents you are allowed to use.
Some PDFs open without a password but restrict printing, editing or copying. Leave the password field empty and the tool removes these usage restrictions where possible. When you unlock a PDF, the content itself is not changed; only the protection is taken away, so text, images and layout stay as they were. In both cases you can unlock PDF files in a few seconds.
This tool does not guess or crack passwords. If the password is wrong, you get a clear message. Please only unlock PDF files that belong to you or that you may edit. Your file is processed on servers in Germany, held in memory only and deleted after the download, at the latest after an hour. Afterwards you can protect the file again with a new password.

Can I use this to crack a forgotten password?
No. You need the correct password. We do not try passwords.
May I unlock any PDF?
Only files you have the rights to. Protection of other people’s documents must not be bypassed.
What does an empty password field mean?
Some PDFs open without a password but forbid e.g. printing. An empty field then removes those restrictions from the copy.
Is my password stored?
No. It is used only for this one job, never stored and never logged.
How do I remove editing and printing protection from a PDF?
You need the password of the PDF. With it we remove the protection and the restrictions and return a PDF without a password. We do not guess or crack passwords.
