A PDF watermark marks a document as confidential, as a draft or as a copy for a particular person. With this tool you type the text, choose whether it runs diagonally, horizontally in the centre or tiled over the page, pick a colour and set how transparent it should be. The PDF watermark can cover all pages or only the ones you select.

Typical uses are contracts that are still being negotiated, internal reports, offers for a named customer or documents with the note DRAFT. A visible PDF watermark reminds readers how to treat the file. The watermark is drawn onto each page as normal content, so it is not a security feature; keep your original if you need a clean copy.

The tool supports Latin letters, digits, punctuation and German umlauts. Rotated pages are handled correctly, so the PDF watermark always reads upright. Your file is processed on servers in Germany, held in memory only and deleted after the download, at the latest after an hour. For real protection of the contents, combine it with a password.

Questions and answers

Which characters can I use?

Latin letters, digits, punctuation and German umlauts. Other scripts such as Cyrillic or emoji are not supported yet.

Can I mark only some pages?

Yes. Enter pages such as 1-3, 5 in the “Pages” field. Leave it empty to mark every page.

Can the watermark be removed again?

It is drawn onto the page as ordinary content, so it is not a security feature. Keep your original file if you still need a clean copy.

How do I put a “Draft” watermark on every PDF page?

Enter the text “Draft” and choose the layout (diagonal, centred or tiled), size, colour and opacity. The watermark can go on all pages or on selected ones.

How do I mark a confidential PDF with a watermark?

Enter “Confidential”, for example, as the text and choose a subtle opacity. A watermark is a notice, not access protection: also protect the file with a password.
