Create an e-invoice (XRechnung or ZUGFeRD) online

You do not need an accounting system to create e-invoice documents. Fill in the sender, recipient, items and bank details, and this tool builds a valid XRechnung 3.0 as XML or a readable ZUGFeRD PDF with the invoice data inside. Totals and taxes are calculated exactly, and the file is checked immediately with the official validator, so you know it will be accepted. It is a quick way to create e-invoice files for a first test.

Use the XRechnung format when public authorities are your customers, and the ZUGFeRD PDF when businesses want an invoice they can read and process automatically. When you create e-invoice files here, the standard rate, 7 percent, zero-rated and tax-exempt items are supported, including the note for small businesses under paragraph 19 of the German VAT act.

To create e-invoice documents you only enter the data once; your sender and bank details can be remembered in your own browser. Everything is processed on servers in Germany, held in memory only and deleted after the answer. This tool is not tax or legal advice, so please check the content before you send it. If you want to test an invoice from another system, use our tool to validate e-invoice files.

Questions and answers

Which format is created?

Either an XRechnung 3.0 as UBL 2.1 XML (the format German public authorities require) or a ZUGFeRD / Factur-X PDF: a readable PDF/A-3 with the invoice as XML inside (profile EN 16931), which many businesses prefer.

Who needs e-invoices?

In Germany, businesses must be able to receive e-invoices since 2025. Issuing e-invoices becomes mandatory step by step from 2027 and 2028. Please check your own situation; this tool is not tax or legal advice.

What is supported?

Invoices with up to 100 items, the standard rate (19 %, 7 % or another), 0 % and tax-exempt items (for example small businesses under § 19 UStG with a reason), bank transfer payment. Output as XRechnung (XML) or as a ZUGFeRD PDF (PDF/A-3 with the XML inside, EN 16931). Credit notes, discounts or surcharges on the whole invoice and attachments are not supported yet.

Are my details stored?

No. Your data is processed in memory and discarded after the answer. If you tick the box, your sender and bank details are remembered in your own browser only.
