Split a PDF into pages or parts

With this tool you can split PDF files into smaller documents in three ways: by page ranges such as 1-3, 4-7 and 8-, by extracting selected pages into one new file, or by saving every page as its own PDF. That makes it easy to split PDF files that contain several invoices, chapters or scanned letters.

Typical reasons to split PDF documents are sending only the relevant pages, sorting a scanned batch, reducing the size of an email attachment or handing one section to a colleague. The pages are copied without changes, so text, images and layout stay exactly as in your original when you split a PDF.

Splitting happens on our servers in Germany. Your file is held in memory only and removed after the download, at the latest after an hour. If the result consists of several files, you receive them together as a ZIP archive. Need the opposite? Merge the parts again with our tool to merge PDF files. To split PDF files in your own time, you never need to install anything.

How it works

  1. Add your PDF

Drop the file onto the page or choose it from your device.

  2. Choose how to split

Enter page ranges, extract pages into one file, or save every page separately.

  3. Download

Get the result as a PDF, or as a ZIP file if there are several parts.

Questions and answers

How do I enter pages?

Use page numbers and ranges separated by commas, for example 1-3, 5, 8-. A range ending in a dash such as 8- runs to the last page.

What is the difference between the split modes?

“Page ranges” creates one PDF per range. “Extract pages” collects all listed pages in one PDF, in the order you typed them. “Every page” saves each page as its own PDF.

How do I get several results?

Several results are delivered together as one ZIP file.

How do I cut a page out of a PDF and save it?

Choose “Extract pages” and enter the page number, for example 3. You get a new PDF with only that page, the original stays unchanged.

How do I save single PDF pages as a new file?

With the setting “Each page separately” you get every page as its own PDF in a ZIP file. With “Page ranges” you split into sections such as 1-3 and 4-6.
