E-invoicing in the company: processes, ERP and volumes
Whoever writes and receives many invoices needs a reliable process. Here is the overview for businesses with ERP or their own invoicing.

Keep the deadlines in view
Receiving has applied to everyone since 2025. For issuing a transitional rule applies until the end of 2026. Businesses with more than 800,000 euros of total turnover in the previous year must issue e-invoices from 2027, smaller ones from 2028. Plan the switch with lead time.
Four building blocks
A robust process has these parts:
- Inbound: central mailboxes and portals that pass files to accounting automatically.
- Validation: every invoice is checked formally, errors go back with a message.
- Outbound: the software creates XRechnung or ZUGFeRD, and the file is validated before sending.
- Archive: the original file is retained unalterably, generally for eight years.
What to clarify in the ERP
Many ERP systems already create and read e-invoices or do so through an add-on. Clarify: which formats and profiles are supported, is the Leitweg-ID for authorities stored, are master data such as tax numbers and IBAN complete and how is the result validated.
Many invoices: automate
At high volumes you do not validate by hand. Through an interface (API) or an AI assistant a validation can be triggered automatically, for example for every incoming file or for spot checks before sending. Wandlix offers an API, an MCP server and templates for n8n, Make and Zapier for this.
Tests before the start
Create test invoices for typical cases (domestic, authority, credit note, tax-exempt) and validate them. Agree with important customers which format they accept.
Frequently asked questions
- From when does my company have to issue?
- From 2027 if the previous year's turnover exceeded 800,000 euros, otherwise from 2028. Your tax adviser confirms the exact case.
- Can I automate validation and conversion?
- Yes, through the API, MCP or integrations such as n8n and Make.
- Must the ERP create e-invoices itself?
- Not necessarily, but it is the most convenient way. Alternatively an add-on or a tool can create the files.
Try it now
Check an e-invoice in a few seconds. Your file stays in the memory of a server in Germany only and is deleted after one hour at the latest.
